P0087: Fuel rail pressure too low

Measured fuel pressure fell below the pressure requested by the engine controller.

Common symptoms

  • Hard starting
  • Hesitation
  • Stalling
  • Reduced-power mode

Likely causes

  • Restricted fuel supply
  • Weak low- or high-pressure pump
  • Injector leak-off
  • Pressure sensor or control-valve fault

First checks

  • Compare requested and actual pressure
  • Check filter and low-pressure supply
  • Perform injector return-flow testing where applicable

Important

High-pressure fuel systems require correct equipment and safe workshop procedures.

A fault code identifies a detected condition, not a failed part. Confirm manufacturer-specific subcodes and live data.
