P0088: Fuel rail pressure too high
Measured fuel-rail pressure exceeds the value requested by the engine controller.
Common symptoms
- •Hard starting
- •Rough running
- •Reduced power
- •Fuel-system warning
Likely causes
- •Sticking pressure-control valve
- •Biased pressure sensor
- •Restricted return
- •Pump metering fault
First checks
- •Compare requested and actual rail pressure
- •Inspect sensor wiring
- •Test regulator command and return circuit safely
Important
Common-rail fuel is extremely high pressure; use rated equipment and never loosen a live high-pressure connection.
A fault code identifies a detected condition, not a failed part. Confirm manufacturer-specific subcodes and live data.
