P0471: Exhaust pressure sensor range / performance

The exhaust-pressure sensor signal is implausible for engine load, speed, and DPF pressure conditions.

Common symptoms

  • DPF warning
  • Reduced power
  • Frequent regeneration
  • Poor fuel economy

Likely causes

  • Blocked pressure pipe
  • Failed exhaust-pressure sensor
  • Wiring fault
  • DPF restriction

First checks

  • Read exhaust pressure at idle and under load
  • Inspect pressure hoses or pipes for soot blockage
  • Check DPF soot load and sensor wiring

Important

Confirm whether the sensor circuit or the DPF restriction is the root cause before authorizing parts.

A fault code identifies a detected condition, not a failed part. Confirm manufacturer-specific subcodes and live data.
