P0507: Idle control system RPM higher than expected

Idle speed is higher than the ECU's target after it has reached the limit of normal control correction.

Common symptoms

  • High idle
  • Surging idle
  • Harsh gear engagement
  • Whistling air leak

Likely causes

  • Vacuum or PCV leak
  • Dirty throttle body
  • Incorrect throttle adaptation
  • Stuck idle-control or purge flow issue

First checks

  • Smoke-test intake and PCV paths
  • Review throttle angle and fuel trims
  • Perform throttle adaptation only after fixing air leaks

Important

High idle is often an air-management problem, not automatically a throttle-body failure.

A fault code identifies a detected condition, not a failed part. Confirm manufacturer-specific subcodes and live data.
