P0507: Idle control system RPM higher than expected
Idle speed is higher than the ECU's target after it has reached the limit of normal control correction.
Common symptoms
- •High idle
- •Surging idle
- •Harsh gear engagement
- •Whistling air leak
Likely causes
- •Vacuum or PCV leak
- •Dirty throttle body
- •Incorrect throttle adaptation
- •Stuck idle-control or purge flow issue
First checks
- •Smoke-test intake and PCV paths
- •Review throttle angle and fuel trims
- •Perform throttle adaptation only after fixing air leaks
Important
High idle is often an air-management problem, not automatically a throttle-body failure.
A fault code identifies a detected condition, not a failed part. Confirm manufacturer-specific subcodes and live data.
