P2008: Intake manifold runner control circuit open

The ECU detects an open circuit in the intake runner or swirl-flap control system.

Common symptoms

  • Flat low-rpm response
  • Engine warning light
  • Rough running
  • Emissions fault

Likely causes

  • Runner actuator failure
  • Broken linkage
  • Connector or harness fault
  • Carbon-restricted manifold

First checks

  • Run an actuator test
  • Inspect linkage movement
  • Check power, ground, command, and manifold carbon buildup

Important

On some engines, loose intake-flap hardware can become a serious mechanical risk; inspect the system physically.

A fault code identifies a detected condition, not a failed part. Confirm manufacturer-specific subcodes and live data.
